Mr. Media Returns
Pre-ordering went live on the eighth of June and notification went out to approximately 22,000 people. Likewise, last night I began my “in the flesh” media solicitations for radio and TV appearances. Newspaper stuff is still on the agenda.
The marketing of a book is one of my favorite parts of producing one. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work and takes a lot of time, but the rewards can be worth it. (Especially if you self-publish as your per unit profit is so much higher than your average royalty, which is only around $1 a copy.)
Right now, marketing these latest Axiom-man adventures takes me back to last summer when I began pushing the first title in the series. Interestingly, it was during the media hype of the first title that I began working on book two, my muse pumping, I myself all jazzed up about Axiom-man and his world. I expect nothing less this time around and even now my fingers are aching to get the keyboard fired up and pound out a new superhero story.
My marketing approach this time is broader. Since the first book came out, I got a few more ideas as to how I’m going to not only push these latest two installments, but also urge readers to check out the first book, too. The Axiom-man™ Saga is, after all, one story and to read it from the beginning can only add to it in the end. It was written as one long tale and will continue to be written that way. That was the plan from the start. Though the stories themselves are self-contained and you could very well just read one, to read everything as a whole will impact how you interpret and approach the other titles in the series, in turn creating a much richer reading experience for yourself.
But back to the topic at hand.
Mr. Media. Yeah, that’s me.
Bookstore solicitations begin shortly, likewise arrangements for book signings. I plan on doing a local tour just like last year and I’ll also be adding a couple more bookstores to my list to further reach readers and let them know about Axiom-man.
